Frequently asked questions

The questions we are asked most often — from the first consultation to fitting and aftercare. If yours isn’t here, do ask.

Planning & design

Do you charge for a design consultation?
No. A design consultation — at our Beckenham showroom, by appointment, or as a home design visit — is free of charge and carries no obligation. If you decide to go further, we prepare a full design and an itemised quotation.
Can you work from an architect’s or designer’s drawings?
Yes. We are happy to work alongside your architect, interior designer or builder, and can develop our cabinetry drawings from their plans as readily as from our own survey.
Do I have to plan the whole home at once?
Not at all. Many projects begin with a single room — a kitchen, a run of wardrobes, one panelled wall — and grow from there. Because every piece is made to the same palette of colours and finishes, later rooms will always sit comfortably with earlier ones.

Survey & making

Will you survey the rooms before anything is made?
Yes. Nothing goes into manufacture until we have measured the rooms ourselves. Measurements, finishes and colours are agreed with you in writing before making begins.
What does “made to measure” actually mean?
Every piece is made for your rooms rather than adapted from stock sizes — built to the millimetre around your walls, ceilings, alcoves and services, in the finish you have chosen.
What colours and finishes can I choose from?
Our library holds twenty-four finishes across woodgrains, neutrals and textures, and solid colours — and we will gladly send samples so you can live with a finish in your own light before deciding. Browse the library.

Fitting & lead times

How long will my project take?
It depends on the scope of the work, so we confirm a realistic lead time with your quotation and keep you informed throughout. Fitting dates are agreed with you in advance.
Who fits the furniture?
Our own fitters deliver and install every project to the standard the workshop intended — we do not hand your home over to strangers.
What do I need to prepare before fitting?
Safe, clear access to the property, and a site that is ready for installation on the agreed date. We will talk this through with you well before the day, so there are no surprises.

Guarantee & aftercare

Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Every installation comes with our written guarantee covering materials and workmanship, for the period stated in your order confirmation. This guarantee is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
How do I look after the finishes?
Care guidance comes with your installation. Day to day, little more than a wipe with a soft, damp cloth is needed — our boards are finished with hard-wearing, low-emission, water-based pigments.
Can I cancel a bespoke order?
Because bespoke items are made to your specification, the usual right to cancel for a change of mind does not apply once manufacture has begun. This does not affect your rights where goods are faulty or not as described.
