Designing a fitted wardrobe that actually works
23 July 2024

A fitted wardrobe should be planned around how you actually dress, not around a standard layout. Before anything else, it is worth taking stock of what you own: how much hanging space you need, how many drawers, and where shoes and bags will go.
Double hanging suits shirts and folded trousers; full-length hanging is needed for coats and dresses. A mix of the two, with drawers at a comfortable height and good lighting inside, makes a wardrobe genuinely easy to live with.
Made-to-measure comes into its own here, using awkward corners, sloping ceilings and chimney breasts that off-the-shelf units simply cannot. The result is storage that fits the room and the person, down to the last centimetre.
